Terms & Conditions
Last updated 10 September 2026
These terms apply when you register for an event through events.scomm.tech, which is run by the School of Communications, XIM University. Registering means you accept them.
Registering
- One registration is one person entering one competition. To enter another competition, register again with the same details.
- Everything you give us must be true — your name, your contact details, and the institution you say you study at. A registration based on false information may be cancelled without a refund.
- Where an event is limited to students of particular institutions, or asks you to verify your student status, your entry is confirmed only once that check passes.
- Your registration is personal. It cannot be transferred to someone else.
Teams
- Every member of a team registers individually and pays their own entry. The team code links you together; it does not pay for anyone.
- Whoever starts a team is responsible for passing the code only to people who are actually in it.
- A team that does not meet the minimum size stated for its competition may not be able to compete.
Fees
- The fee shown on the event page before you pay is the whole amount. Where it is marked inclusive of GST, the tax is part of that figure and not added to it.
- Fees are collected by XIM University under GST registration 21AAALX0001G1ZR, through the payment gateway, by bank transfer or UPI to a university account, or in cash to the event's designated treasurer.
- Your place is held once you register and confirmed once payment is received. Refunds are governed by the Refund Policy.
At the event
- Bring your registration number. You may be asked for your student ID at the desk.
- Follow the rules of the competition you entered and the instructions of the organisers and university staff. XIM University's campus rules apply while you are on campus.
- Organisers may disqualify an entry for plagiarism, cheating, abusive behaviour, or anything that endangers other participants. No refund is due in those cases.
Changes and cancellation
- We may change the schedule, venue, format or judging arrangements of an event where we have to. We will tell registrants at the email address they gave.
- If we cancel an event or a competition outright, fees paid for it are refunded.
- We are not able to reimburse travel, accommodation or other costs you arrange yourself.
Your work
- Anything you submit must be your own. Entries that infringe someone else's copyright are disqualified.
- You keep the rights to your work. By entering, you allow XIM University to display, publish and reproduce it in connection with the event and its coverage, with attribution to you.
- Photographs and video are taken at these events and may be used in the university's publicity. Tell the organisers at the desk if you do not want to appear.
Results and prizes
- The judges' decision is final.
- Prize money is paid to the winner named on the registration, by bank transfer, after any deduction the law requires.
- A prize may be withheld where eligibility cannot be established.
The platform
- We try to keep events.scomm.tech available and correct, but we do not guarantee it is uninterrupted or error-free.
- Do not attempt to break into, overload, or interfere with the site, or to register on someone else's behalf without their knowledge.
- Your details are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes fall to the courts at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
